Holy KMS VDI Man! - Failed to activate license

Hi Friends,

Something I wanted to share with you regarding Microsoft's Key Management Service.  If you've recently deployed a new KMS and you start deploying a few test desktops through your connection broker you might get the following error:

(16):  Failed to activate license (waited 1225 seconds)

It could mean that your KMS isn't set up properly or you haven't deployed more than 25 Windows 7 desktops.

Yep, that's right, when I first saw this I thought, "Nah, it can't be that simple!"  I ran another test of 30 desktops and sure enough it worked!  Plus the desktops that were in the error state jumped back to life and became available too!

If you're creating Windows 2008 or Windows 2008 R2 machines with KMS, the threshold is 5.

Just a helpful tip so you don't pull all of your hair out!  :-)  For more information, take a look here:

Enjoy!
